Governor's Award Press Release

CDE recognizes Districts Accredited with Distinction, Centers of Excellence schools and other award winners

Sanford, CO – Sanford High School announced today that they are a recipient of the 2011 Governor's Distinguished Improvement Award.
The Colorado Department of Education celebrated the 2011 district and school performance results in an awards ceremony on Monday, Dec. 12th, in the Colorado Department of Education lobby at 201 E. Colfax Ave., Denver. Commissioner Robert Hammond honored schools and districts that earned acclaim.
Principal David Judd stated that he is, "honored to have the opportunity to work with an exceptional teaching staff." "They understand and utilize a variety of highly effective teaching strategies to ensure academic growth for every student."
Governor's Distinguished Improvement Awards are given to schools that demonstrate excellent student growth. On the school performance framework that is used by the state to evaluate schools, these schools "exceed" expectations on the indicator related to longitudinal academic growth and "meet or exceed" expectations on the indicator related to academic growth gaps.

CHSAA Names Sanford High School Students to Academic All-State Teams
Program Sponsored by CHSAA Continues Recognition of Deserving Students
Aurora, Colo. – The Colorado High School Activities Association and Sanford High School has named 17 participants to the winter activities season Academic All-State teams. CHSAA Commissioner Paul Angelico has announced that 17 students have earned first team or honorable mention recognition.

   

Secondary Curriculum

123The secondary school (7-12) is committed to preparing students for a successful future. We currently implemented the Renaissance Learning System along with the NWEA Assessment. We presently boast of four vocational programs that assist our students in meeting the life skills and career choices necessary for a secure future. We are proud that our Sanford graduates have a background of achievement by going through the highest academic requirements for every student in the State of Colorado. Receiving a unique grant opportunity, eighth graders were issued a laptop computer for the school year to assist them in meeting the nations goal of computer literacy by the end of eighth grade.
